Application Data Collection
Default Offline Mode
By default, AAX Plugin Manager operates primarily offline. The application uses online resources for license activation and deactivation only, currently via Lemon Squeezy. All plugin database information remains entirely local to your computer.
Optional App Update Checking
You can optionally check for updates to AAX Plugin Manager itself by:
• Clicking “Check for Updates ” in the app, or
• Enabling automatic update checking on app startup (disabled by default)
When checking for app updates, the Software:
• Sends your current app version number to a third-party CDN and edge network provider operated by the Developer
• Sends the same anonymous User ID and Computer ID used for license authentication
• Retrieves current version information from a cloud storage provider and compares it against your version
• Returns only the result: whether a new version is available, download URL, and release notes
• Does not transmit any information about your plugins, system configuration, or usage patterns
Technical Details
• Requests are routed through third-party CDN infrastructure, which processes requests with standard logging (including IP addresses)
• If automatic checking on launch is enabled, the app will check at most once every 12 hours (you can disable this at any time in settings)
• The anonymous identifiers (User ID and Computer ID) are described in detail in the “Anonymous Identifiers ” section below
• This feature can be used independently of Cloud Version Checking and does not require enabling the full plugin database features
In default offline mode (with update checking disabled), this application:
• Does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information after the license is granted
• Does not include analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking
• Does not send crash reports or performance metrics
• Stores all data locally on your Mac in a SQLite database
• Only accesses Pro Tools plugin folders and others named in the manual for local app functions
Data stored locally includes plugin metadata (filenames, paths, version numbers, tags, and groups you create). This data never leaves your computer and is not accessible to the Developer or any third party when operating in offline mode.
No account creation, cloud sync, or external services are used in offline mode (except for license activation/deactivation via Lemon Squeezy and optional app update checking if enabled).
Optional Cloud Version Checking
AAX Plugin Manager offers optional Cloud Version Checking features that can be enabled within the application settings. These features are DISABLED BY DEFAULT and require your explicit opt-in activation. This is separate from and more comprehensive than the app update checking described above.
What Cloud Version Checking Does
When enabled, this feature allows you to contribute plugin version information to a shared database and check if newer versions of your installed plugins are available. This is a community-driven feature that benefits all users who choose to participate.
Data Collected When Cloud Features Are Enabled
When you enable Cloud Version Checking, the following information that has been collected in your local database is transmitted:
• Plugin names and version numbers
• Plugin manufacturer names
• Plugin bundle identifiers (CFBundleIdentifier)
• CPU architecture compatibility (Intel/Apple Silicon/Universal)
• Plugin category information
• Anonymous identifiers (detailed below)
Data NOT Collected
• Your name, email address, or contact information
• macOS version or system details
• Plugin installation paths or file locations
• Usage patterns, session data, or how frequently you use plugins
• License status or authentication details of third-party plugins
• Any information that could be used to identify piracy or unauthorised plugin use
Anonymous Identifiers
Two anonymous identifiers are used for authentication, database integrity, and rate limiting:
• User ID: An anonymous, non-personal identifier associated with your licence. This groups all computers belonging to the same licence holder.
• Computer ID: An anonymous, non-personal identifier unique to each computer. This distinguishes individual machines registered to your licence.
Neither identifier contains your name, email, or other personal information. These identifiers persist across app reinstalls and are used for:
• License authentication for app update checking and cloud features
• Preventing spam and malformed data submissions to the version database
• Rate limiting to prevent abuse of cloud services
• Maintaining data quality in the version database
The Developer can cross-reference your User ID with the licensing system if necessary (e.g., for troubleshooting or abuse prevention), but the cloud database itself does not contain names or email addresses.
Data Processing & Storage
• Data is transmitted via a third-party CDN and edge network, which routes requests through their global infrastructure to the nearest data centre
• Plugin version data is stored in a third-party database provider hosted in the EU
• The CDN and edge network provider processes requests through their infrastructure and may have access to data in transit, subject to their own privacy policy
• Request metadata (counts, timestamps, IP addresses) is logged by the CDN provider for rate limiting, error monitoring, and preventing abuse
• Plugin version data is stored indefinitely to maintain the historical version database
• You can disable Cloud Features at any time in the app settings, which will stop all data transmission immediately
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
• Access: Request a copy of data associated with your identifiers
• Deletion: Request removal of your contributed data from the cloud database
• Withdraw consent: Disable Cloud Features at any time in the app settings
To exercise these rights, contact support via the contact form on our website.
Please note that data deletion requests require manual processing and may take up to 30 days to complete.
Legal Basis for Processing: When you enable Cloud Version Checking, we process your data based on your explicit consent under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a).
Third-Party CDN and Infrastructure Data Processing
Both App Update Checking and Cloud Version Checking use a third-party CDN and edge network provider to process requests. This provider acts as a data processor on behalf of the Developer.
When you use these features:
• Requests are routed through the provider 19s global edge network to the nearest data centre
• Standard CDN logging captures request metadata including IP addresses, timestamps, and request counts
• This logging is used for rate limiting, error monitoring, and preventing abuse
• The provider 19s data processing is governed by their own privacy policy and data processing terms
The Developer does not directly collect or store IP addresses from update checks or cloud feature requests, but this information may be accessible through the provider 19s analytics dashboard.
Store / Lemon Squeezy Data Collection
Some of your data used to process your purchase is held by Lemon Squeezy, independent of this App and the Developer. They also generate the license for this App and hold information that allows the App to be activated or deactivated. License activation/deactivation requires internet contact with Lemon Squeezy servers. Please see their latest Privacy Policy for further details.

The Developer reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time or with any updates to the App. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website. Your continued use of this application after any change will constitute your acceptance of such change.
Business Transfer
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, sale of all or part of the Developer 19s assets, or any other change of control, data held by the Developer — including anonymous identifiers and any plugin version data associated with them — may be transferred to the acquiring or successor party as part of that transaction. Any such party will be required to honour the terms of this Privacy Policy or will provide reasonable notice of any material changes prior to those changes taking effect. You will be notified through the app or website if such a transfer involves a change to how your data is processed or who is responsible for it.
