FAQ

WHY / WHAT / HOW?

Find clear answers to frequent questions about managing your AAX plugins with ease and confidence.

Licensing

The App uses the Lemon Squeezy licensing system – after a purchase you receive a license code, on booting the App you’ll input that and your name and the App becomes activated on that computer after connecting to the LS Server. After that the App doesn’t connect again to check the license at any point, unless you click the Deactivate button – which returns the activation back to your count. You’ve 5 activations to cover your other computers, contact support if you’ve run out after that or something’s gone horribly wrong. The license is for a single users computers only.

Permissions – why can’t I move a certain plugin?

Certain plugins install with MacOS ownership set differently to others, where it’s saying that you are not the “owner” you’ll need to input your user password to move them. It’s the same as when you manually drag a plugin out of the Active plugin folder to Unused , you’d be asked for your password on these particular plugins. The App gives you a quick fix permissions repair for this, it doesn’t alter the Plugin itself just the file permissions so doesn’t affect usage.

Acustica Audio Plugins

Acustica Audio Plugins run in a different way to most other Plugins, having a Shell structure, and plugins appearing as identical on disk – this may trigger the duplicate detection function – v1.1 has an Acustica option now so should deal with this !

PC Version?

Not at the moment sorry!

I’ve moved my Plugins from my Unused Folder to the Active Folder but ProTools isn’t seeing them!

Main possibility – if your computer allows you might be running Pro Tools in Silicon Mode (often default) and the Plugin you’ve moved is not Silicon- check the architecture for compatibility – normally affects older plugins now – boot into Rosetta mode to check. Or if you’re using an older pre 2023.12+ version, the cache system wasn’t in place so you may need to restart.

CAN IT TELL ME MY PLUGINS ARE OUT OF DATE?

Not at the moment.

CAN I MAKE FOLDERS/ CATAGORIES / FAVOURITES IN THE PRO TOOLS APP ITSELF?

No, this App works outside of Pro Tools, with it’s own database and moves the .aaxplugin files around. The favourites and groups you make in the App allow you to quickly move these into Pro Tools’ Plugins Folder – so appearing in Pro Tools like that – only those plugins if you desire. An easy way to manage the amount of Plugins in Pro Tools – or just have the Plugins you need for a specific task.

Currently Pro Tools doesn’t offer any way to make categories or lists in its Plugin Menus, this is not something this App can help you with sorry.

App Store?

Due to what this App does it’s not possible (at the moment) sorry!

What Computers will it work on?

If you’re a Pro Tools user you’ll know there are so many combinations of Computer OS and Pro Tools versions. This App as long as it’s on Monterey 12+ should work with most Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate versions as it’s working outside of the software itself – check the Pro Tools compatibility chart for MacOS and PT combinations. For information – Oldest tested working combination for App and OS – (Non silicon) Intel Core i7 2014 laptop running Openloader Monterey / with PT 19.12 , Latest Tahoe 26.2, Pro Tools 2025.12, M1 Ultra. Note: Pro Tools has its specific version/OS requirements so that should be your main focus for stability.

Will my Tags appear in Pro Tools? I don’t understand . . .

The App is standalone and works with the MacOs rather than scripts/API’s within Pro Tools. The Manager does not appear “inside” Pro Tools, nor any of it’s Tags or Groups, it’s a separate App to organise sort and move your Plugins around on your drive. Pro Tools on loading uses whats in the active plugins folder so you can control that aspect for lots of organisational possibilities.
